Just outside Ferguson, MO
St. Louis County air pollution considers the whole building Asbestos contaminated. So everything metal will be hosed off, and scrapped, everything else will be thrown away as contaminated waste. The biggest challenge will be containing the water to reclaim & filter. But we just have to suck it up into the semi trailer tank.

If you need a snack there is a really great Walgreens in the area, or you can stop for lunch at the local Little Casesars... :)

That's weird. I can't even recall having seen an O'Reilly move into a preexisting building once - is the asbestos contamination theoretically based on older brake/etc. disposal and the like, or was this an old building?

How do you suck up water that is absorbed into the floor/concrete/dirt?!

Yeah, I guess the Walgreens is fixed up, I blew up their bathroom at lunch.

Huh, they must move fast...I never drove by the area to see the damages left from the looting, but maybe I should drive around sometime and take a look.

Was this a freak fire or protesters set it ablaze?

I really don't know. The building was built in 2004, theoretically after they stopped using asbestos in building products.
But across the street, crews are tearing stuff down with out any kind of containment or anything.

Protesters.

You're doing hazmat removal? My brother in law did that for many years. Worked at the Fernald Superfund site classifying waste. Now he manages the recycling department for GM in Fort Wayne.

They kind of build a trench around the exterior to push it out. Or we have 4 brand new shop vacuums

All our VIPs turned into O'Riellys so there's that.

Been abating asbestos for 16 years. Just got HAZWOPER trained, haven't done any of that stuff yet.

The only asbestos that should have been there, then, is from brake pads and possibly a pipe wrap or two. The overall content from brake pads has to have been tiny, though. Like, maybe tens or at most hundreds of grams. Not even among the more dangerous kinds, either. Silly.

Be careful!
What type of personal safety measures do you need to take? I assume wearing a respirator and hazmat suit are part of the deal.

The county is waiving their dick around on this one. Also insurance is paying for 24 hour security guard.
Kind of stupid, but screw it. It's work.

At least the temperature is decent in STL today, erm right now.

Yeah, just tyvek suits, nothing like E.T. or movie stuff you see.
I'll be grabbing my rain suit and wearing that tomorrow. Going to be a lot of water.

Yeah I had been working norh in Hannibal, MO in an abandoned hospital, and was cold as shit inside and outside.

My BIL actually got to go on a meth house raid once. Full-on hazmat suit, respirators, the works. And to think people live in and breathe around that stuff. Well, they get pretty screwed up doing it.

HAZWOPER is the best acronym ever.

Can't believe nobody has asked yet if you're a master abater (of asbestos—get your mind out of the gutter).
